I personally think it’s sad that the US Government is giving Equality to it’s workers yet it refuses to do so for the entire American population, says Wayne Hesler, Utica, NY.

Openly gay Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) told the Washington Blade in May that he believed supporters of the act Openly gay Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) told the Washington Blade in May that he believed supporters of the act "have a shot" at getting it passed.

The Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee Dec. 16 approved the Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligations Act, which would allow federal employees to give their same-sex partners health insurance, life insurance, government pensions, and other employment related benefits and obligations that are available to heterosexual married couples.
The bill was originally introduced in the House by openly lesbian Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and in the Senate by Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) in 2007. After they died in 2008, the bills were reintroduced in 2009. Openly gay Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) told the Washington Blade in May that he believed supporters of the act "have a shot" at getting it passed. In June, President Obama voiced his support for the bill, calling it "crucial legislation that will guarantee these rights for all federal employees."
"We are extremely pleased by the Senate committee’s vote on this important legislation. It is long past time for the federal government — the country’s largest civilian employer — to provide benefits to the same-sex partners of federal employees. In addition to being fundamentally fair, extending these benefits is a sound business decision because it will help the federal government recruit and retain the best people," Rea Carey, executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF), said. The NGLTF supplied testimony in support of the bill earlier this year.
"Businesses already understand this. A majority of Fortune 500 companies offer their employees domestic partner benefits, as do hundreds of colleges, universities, local governments and many states. This bill will simply bring the federal government up to the standard already supported by businesses and people across the country."

Still Loving WLW

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

I have been using Windows Live Writer for a while now and still continue to love how easy it is to post to multiple blogs at the same time, plus have all the “WORD” type functions right at hand.

I just finished upgrading 2 new plugins that will hopefully allow the use of custom fields.. one of such as I use is the Subtitle for my pages.

The plugins are All In One SEO which is first installed in your wordpress setup and the other is the All In One SEO WLW Bridge , again installed into your wordpress.

Then a simple file download for WLW and your connected. Took less then 5 minutes.

Stupidity is a Choice, a Stupid One

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Ah, well it’s time to get those brown paper bags and anti-anxiety pills out because it’s exam time! Yay for exams! *Gun shot*, yeah that’s what you get when you say that in a room full of sleep deprived, over stressed, and anxious college students. So to alleviate some stresses I decided to post a new thread on Gaia Online letting people yell out they’re stresses, what I forgot was that the community is filled with trend-crazy and immature teenagers that have no capacity of deep thought. *sigh*. I wish I could talk to more people besides Michele about stuff like this. It’s a shame when people decide they want to “live” which concerns them going out and partying every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and yes even Monday. Okay, let me break it down for people. The ones that seek this “life” they so much love to pursue are people who party more than they actually think in my opinion:

“Thirsty” Thursday Night: people are preparing for the weekend and/or thinking that getting wasted will alleviate stress for a Friday morning exam. That in itself is stupid. In no way, shape, or form am I saying it’s stupid to drink, but when you drink excessively, you kill braincells, great going Einstein, you just destroyed half the information you studied for.

Friday Night: this is the night that people love to go out drinking. Every Friday I get off work late, I see a line outside TOTS with people stumbling down stairs and I always wonder how they actually get down those stairs without injuring themselves. This night is understandable considering that the week is over.

Saturday Night: these nights are usually themed nights I have found. A typical social party in which you dress up in a costume, go out and have a good time. This is primarily to have fun and let loose before your weekend is up.

Sunday Night: this is the “Aw man, our weekend is almost up, let’s party!” day. A lot of people don’t really do this because this is the day before those early morning classes in which braving blistering December winds while hungover is probably not a good idea for anyone.

Monday Night: “Party Withdraw”, this is the day where one is withdrawing. They can’t believe they’re weekend is over that they go out again to make it official because 4 days in a row isn’t good enough.

Wait a minute…how did I get on this topic. Oh well, I guess I’ll just wing it from here. Oh wait, I remember. Alright, so back in topic. While these people are wasting they’re life with having a failed kidney by the age of 30, I’m working. Yep, you want to know why I don’t party? Here we go, let’s delve into Austen World. One: I hate large groups of people. Or as Men in Black pointed out “A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animal…”. That and I just can’t stand being with large groups. Two: I have no time to do with that. Let’s see, I have class, on average to three in the afternoon, I have studio projects that last for hours upon hours, other projects that take time to do, and I work on average 20 hours a week. Three: I honestly don’t like partying. So before someone tries pushing that “Austen, you need to get out more and go to parties”, save me the load of crap and understand I am not you, nor do I want to be. Sorry if that sounds mean, but it’s true.

Let me elaborate. If you spend your entire life wishing you were someone else, you miss out on the great things you have like your talents, your features, your uniqueness. You become like everyone else; looking to become like everyone else. It’s a viscous cycle. I’m not going into how women feel pressure from industries to be beautiful because that’s something for women studies. Don’t be afraid to become more, but don’t stoop to wanting to become someone else because you won’t. You can only be you, so make the best out of it. Yeah, it’s more complicating than that I guess, but the logic behind it is fairly simple.

Anyways, so I posted that thread and some guy comments. Woohoo first comment. I look at it and it says “I love that song” (because I had the title “Shout! Let it all out!” clever right?)”but you spoilt it with the weird text inside ;~;”. As for what “;~:” is, God only knows, these random smiley faces appear everyone, I guess they’re trying to be “different” because they don’t know how to express themselves besides writing vulgar items on bathroom stalls. As for “spoilt”, that’s how he spelled it, it’s wrong I know. But the main thing is that weird text? Weird? So it’s weird that I ask people to let out their stress and to actually think instead of writing a post on how to poke your brain with a straw by inserting it up your nose. Give me a break. People think they’re deep, but they really just want people to think they’re deep. They; however, are not. By saying “I think, therefore I am” does not make you deep, it makes you a quote infringer. If you want to be deep, just think for once. And with that I am going to leave. I hope you have enjoyed this little rant.
